People generally ask this question for one of two reasons. The first being that they are genuinely curious about how artists see the world and where our inspiration comes from. The second reason people ask this is that they are looking to create something of their own and they’re wondering where to start.

I am inspired by the outdoors. For me, it’s really as simple as that. I was raised by parents who spent a lot of time with my sister and I outside. We camped, cottaged, had a trailer, had a pool. I spent summers outside. I spent winters outside. I am an avid swimmer, golfer, kayaker and skier. When I am outside, I am most at peace. My brain fires on all creative cylinders when I am in the presence of sun, sky, water, rocks and pine trees. OH THE PINE TREES. I am a forever lover of the great white pine and her magnificence in winter and sweet smell in summer.

Every artist needs to find the subject matter that feeds their soul, and then you just hope that other people love it too.

I guess that’s my advice: Feed your soul and the art will come.
